We all experience some kind of lower back discomfort, ache or pain at some point of time. Here are 5 effective stretches (my personal opinion) for soothing a sensitive lower back.... tried and tested after a therapy class!
(PS: I was so amazed at the effects felt after the class that I quickly noted down all the stretches done before forgetting them... :P)

Kindness is more important than wisdom, and the recognition of this is the beginning of wisdom Home Yoga Practice…the struggle is REAL.
Yes! I struggle with home yoga practice all the time, even after 2 years of home yoga practice! More often than not, home yoga practice feels more like a mental practice than a physical one. Practising yoga first thing in the morning is the hardest for me as I am not an early riser and the snooze button always gets the better of me. The number of times I have actually managed to get out of bed for morning yoga is less than 10 times in 2 years, haha! Would really like to have my yoga practice done before the day starts and I am still working towards that. My regular home yoga practice is usually in the evenings, after I get home from work. However, sustaining that is not easy too. After a long day at work, all you want to do is to laze on the sofa, watch TV, cook, and maybe catch as short nap when you are home. Sounds all too familiar? We are all in the same boat. I have very tight shoulders and upper back before I started practicing yoga. Practicing yoga over the years have helped me eased the stiffness and open up by a fair bit. It took me almost 2 years to be able to push up into a full wheel pose (due to the tightness in both my shoulders and upperback, they were as stiff and hard as a rock, a super tough rock to crack!!)
Met up with a close friend last week and she feedback that I should update this space more often (the last post was almost a year back)! (X_X) Yes, I am back in action and will be committed to posting new content more often from now , so do check in more often!
xoxo, Sara 26 Sep 2015 - Yoga Gives Back (YGB) Fundraiser event! Feeling blessed and thankful to be able to participate in my first YGB fundraiser guiding a 90mins vinyasa flow class in PWYW studio, smacked in the heart of the city with natural lighting and city views!
"Power of Change" Weekend workshop with Desiree Rumbaugh and Andrew Revin . It was truly insightful and enlightening. Both of them are in their fifties, sharing about their life experiences and yoga journey in a sincere, light hearted and heart warming way. I enjoyed every single moment of the workshop. Besides anatomical knowledge (which I think that its one of the most important aspect of yoga), I realised the importance of practising yoga mindfully off the mat and living in the present moment, the power of now.

– Audrey Hepburn Can’t remember how many times I tried to lift into urdhva kukkutasana (lotus crow) from tripod headstand and thought that I could never do it (due to the heavy bum of mine!) It finally happened one day when I was not expecting it. I am starting to realise that arm balances are not all about strength and core, but also about finding a sense of balance and discovering your CENTRE of gravity. As long as you keep making effort, little by little, be it even for 10 mins a day, progress will come slowly but surely --> Note to self to work on my nemesis backbends!! ![]() Taking a trip down memory lane & reminiscing the happiness and warmth of the sweet summer breeze in NYC.
Life moves very fast. Smile, breathe and go slowly. Being sincere is more important than being serious. Worrying about what people think or say drains the mind and injures the soul. Let it go, let it go. Working on nurturing positive thoughts and planting seeds of happiness and appreciation in my life :) Hi friends!
Welcome to my humble site. I have been wanting to create a yoga website for the longest time now and can finally put this into action! This little space is created with the intention to share snippets of my life, musings and yoga journey. I hope that it will be a platform to stay connected with you and also a space where you can visit for inspirations, on and off the mat. It's getting late (or rather "early") now and I am off to bed. Do stay tuned for more updates! :) |
